The founder of Bail Bond Fugitive Recovery Academy has been in the bail bond business for over 25 years. When he first started in the business, he worked as a Bail Bond Fugitive Recovery Agent for most of the first few years in addition to writing bail on a “retail” basis. His Bail Bond Fugitive Recovery work took him to 40 states.
Over the years, he concentrated his efforts on building a retail bail bond business, but continued to do fugitive apprehensions, primarily for clients in Michigan, Indiana, Maryland, Georgia, and Nevada. He served on the Board of the Professional Bail-Agents of the United States for 6 years. In addition, he served on various committees and was the association’s Education Committee Chair. While in that position his committee totally revamped the association’s Certified Bail Agent program. It is the only Bail Agent Certification Program nationally recognized in and outside the industry. He was also a co-founder and the first President of the Michigan Bail Agent’s Association and the Michigan Bail Coalition.
He is currently a Life Member of the Professional Bail-Agents of the United States (#10), an associate member of the Ohio Bail Agent’s Association, Florida Surety Agent’s Association, and the Tennessee Professional Bail Agent’s Association. He was also a member of ASLET (American Society for Law Enforcement Training), Law Enforcement Alliance of America, and Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners.
He has received Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Tactical Firearms training through American Shooters of Las Vegas, “Phase One Combat Shooting Methods” with Louis M. Chiodo from Gunfighters Ltd. of San Diego, Force-On-Force Training and Tactical Mechanics of Concealed Carry through Live Safe Academy with Officer Brian Bastianelli, instructor for Wayne County Regional Police Academy, and Advanced “Reality Based” Training with Detective Joseph Ferrera (Little Joe) of Southfield, Michigan Police Department. In addition, he has attended numerous training seminars and workshops regarding issues such as, Uniform Criminal Extradition Act in both bail and non-bail situations, Use of Computer Resources in Locating Missing Persons and Fugitives, Ethics, and Self Defense Techniques to name a few. He has also read many books and articles on related topics. He has received training in K-9 assistance in clearing buildings, and locating and apprehending fleeing subjects from K-9 Officer Tom Case, Port Huron Police Department. He was a guest of the National Association of Bail Enforcement Agents to audit their Training Course and to audit executive protection classes at Executive Security International (EIS) Aspen, Colorado.
During his career, he has made many hundreds of arrests without serious injury to any subject or bystander. In apprehending fugitives he has worked with numerous local law enforcement agencies, The Federal Bureau of Investigation, The United States Marshall Service, The Department of State, the Department of Corrections, and many, many Sheriff’s Departments, and State Police Agencies.
Bail Bond Fugitive Recovery Academy’s (BBFRA) purpose is to provide seminars and workshops to qualified individuals who want to become Bail Bond Fugitive Recovery Agents. He has a strong belief that Bail Bond Fugitive Recovery Agents must be free of criminal convictions and illicit drugs. In addition, he feels that they must also show sound judgment in their financial decisions and must be psychologically stable. He is also convinced that the best way to preserve and protect the rights of bail agents and their fugitive recovery agents is through legal, professional behavior reinforced through systematic, methodical, and professional training, not only in the physical skills, but in legal issues as well.
